I found this quote and thought it was so important to share because it links directly to what we do as book bloggers; review books. It is said that no one ever reads the same book, and that is why we all have varied opinions on the same book. There is sometimes that really special book that everyone loves and can’t get enough of, and then others that everyone thinks is a pile of rubbish.
The point is that, the reason we review books is to share the meanings from our readings, and compare them to other people, and encourage people to read and find their own meanings within the book. Meanings can be anything, from morals to underlying themes, or personal relationship you may share emotionally with the story or one of the characters. I think it’s important we are able to construct meanings from books because it allows us to more fully connect with the characters and events within the pages. As much as critics and professional reviewers may argue, your own personal meaning for a book really is the only thing that matters for you as a reader.
