Top Ten Tuesday

Crime Solving Characters

Top Ten Tuesday was originally started by The Broke And The Bookish, where a topic is given every Tuesday and the blogger then produces a top ten list of books to fit the weekly subject. The topic this week is Top Ten Characters Who Solve Crimes. I love a good crime thriller, especially series with detective inspectors and PIs. I decided I would compile a list of everyone’s favourites this week, and even include some I’m desperate to meet, but haven’t yet had the chance…

Detective Erika Foster (Robert Bryndza)

I need to get round to reading the rest of the series, because I’ve only read The Girl in the Ice, but Erika was such a great detective, I really want to read more of her story.

 Tandy Angel (James Patterson)

Tandy was a great crime solving character, mainly because she was so young! Her mind worked in such an incredible way, and she was inspirationally smart!

 Comoran Strike (Robert Galbraith)

A modern day Sherlock! Comoran Strike was the detective missing from my life! He is a great character, with that slight edge of humorous sarcasm to his dialogue that makes him more likeable than an average detective.

Sherlock Holmes (Sir Arthur Conan Doyal)

Who doesn’t love a bit of Sherlock?! I must get round to reading a Holmes book, but after the TV series I am already in love with his character.

 Eli & Ava (Shay West)

I feel like I don’t say it enough on this blog, but Organ Reapers and Soul Reapers are incredible books that don’t get enough recognition! Eli and Ava are the perfect team, and I need more of them!

 Jack Reacher (Lee Child)

I’m not actually familiar with Reacher as a character, but I know he’s a well known crime solver, and I have Killing Floor on my shelf just itching to be read!

 Alex Cross (James Patterson)

Why have I still not read Alex Cross??! I will pick it up soon, my mum has read a lot of them and I wanna get into Alex Cross’ story as well as the crime solving aspect of the stories!

That’s it for today’s post, I now want to curl up with a blanket and a good detective book! Let me know in the comments who your favourite fictional detectives are, and whether any of them appear on my list! Any recommendations gladly received!

Until next time…

Jade 🙂

Cuckoo’s Calling has 3 episodes, and The Silkworm has 2, Career of Evil hasn’t aired/been filmed yet, so there’s only 5 episodes for the 2 books at the moment, and they’re an hour long 🙂

I don’t read nearly enough crime books so this is such a good recommendation post!! I REALLY love Sherlock (the tv shows particularly.😂 But I have read some of the original books) and some of the YA retellings are pretty fun too. 😜 And recently I read this book called Here Lies Daniel Tate and it was SO twisty and good!

Ah, I’m glad you found it helpful! Sherlock is soooo good! I really must get round to reading the books! I’ll have to look into the YA retellings, I haven’t come across them. Thanks for the recommendation, my TBR pile grows ever longer 😅 and thank you for commenting 😊
