It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas… Literary Book Gifts

Hello fellow bookworms! It’s been a while, hasn’t it… Starting my new job has been a lot more tiring than I expected, and I just haven’t found the time to post recently, but with Christmas just around the corner, I thought it would be nice to have a look at what might be in store for us book lovers at this time of year!

Literary Book Gifts is an online store full of bookish wonders for every bookworm in your life, even yourself. As their website describes…

High quality gifts for book lovers! All design work is done in house. Each product is printed professionally with care.

I’m lucky enough to be able to do a short Q&A post and review of the products today, and have a great promotion to offer you all at the end of this post! Today, I’m talking to Melissa, founder of Literary Book Gifts, to get an insight scoop on her company and the products she sells…

Where did you get the idea for Literary Book Gifts?

I love antiques, they carry so much history with them. Literature and books are something I love as well, in many cases they are much older than the antique furniture, paintings, and visual artwork. However, since books are words they retain their oldness without the wear and tear that real-life items get over the years. Literary Book Gifts is a collection of designs that are based on the visual representations of these titles. Showcasing the classic and vintage feel as an ode to how long ago they were published and what it was like during those times, just like antiques.

When did you first launch your online store, and how long did it take for everything to come together?

Longer than I would like to say. The ideas for some of the designs and the store in general had be swirling around in my head for quite a while before. I really had no idea of how to use websites or these type of graphic editing programs that would allow the images to display correctly when printed. There was a steep learning curve, but I’m really happy with how the store has turned out so far!

Why did you decide on t-shirts and tote bags?

Shirts were definitely the first thing I decided on, I love how you can seamlessly transition them in and out of your wardrobe. For those who don’t like wearing graphic tees it seemed natural to offer them an option and the tote bags are a great fit for that case.

Besides literature, what inspires your designs? Do you have a certain illustrative style you enjoy?

I have long been interested in art history. In particular artwork that surrounds impressionism, including post-impressionism. Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec is an artist whose work I very much admire.

Where do you get your creative streak from?

Sometimes I listen to audiobooks while designing, I think this really helps get the literary creative thoughts flowing.

What can customers expect from your products that stands out among other bookish gift companies?

The shirts are all or mostly cotton and are available in a great variety of sizes XS-3XL for women and S-5XL for men. There are color choices as well, and each shirt is available in multiple color options to suit different styles and tastes.

What gifts would you recommend from your store for book lovers this Christmas?

I think a great gift that would make for the perfect present for just about anyone is the Typewriter Tote Bag it’s not about a specific title so anyone who likes literature or writing can appreciate it. The color pallette is a neutral tan and black so it would go with a lot of outfits.

Another great option is the Jane Austen T-Shirt it’s perfect for Austen fans but is also a great for anyone who likes antiques, period pieces, or writing in general.

What is your favourite design in your store?

It’s so hard for me to pick a favourite! At the moment I am really loving the Frankenstein design. It was a challenge for me to design this one but I think the subtly of the graphic really brings out the spooky nature of the overall design.

BookMuffin’s Thoughts

I love Melissa’s products and her unique product designs! There is such a variety in style and really is something for everyone who loves books, even if you’re not a fan of the classics. The fact that she uses a waterproof material for her tote bags is perfect, because as much as I love all my tote bags, the cotton ones are not great in the rain! The t-shirts have a very flattering shape for women and men, as well as being made from top quality material. The wide selection of colours means there really is no excuse not to buy one… which I can help you with today as well! Melissa has kindly given me a promo code to share with all my lovely readers and Instagram followers! Just enter BookMuffin20 when completing your purchase for 20% off anything in the store with no minimum spend (and no expiry date either!) So what are you waiting for? It is, after all, the most wonderful time of the year… to go shopping!

Until next time…

Jade 🙂
