Monthly Book Roundup for February

roundup_post_graphic_txt
Hello fellow bookworms! I’m still in a really good reading mood and I’m hoping it’s going to last because I’ve also been acquiring loads of books that I can’t wait to read! I think I’ll a mini book haul at the end of this post as well…

What books have I read this month?

vox

Vox by Christina Dalcher

This book was turned out really interesting, and I was still unsure what was going on until the very end, which made it even more exciting and compelling to read. The premise, while similar to The Handmaid’s Tale, has a unique way of communicating gender equality and how to work around a corrupt government.

This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay

This is by far my FAVOURITE book of the year. I’m a big fan of medical dramas on TV so I knew I would enjoy that aspect of it, but I was not prepared for just how hilarious this book would be. There were also parts which were hard to read- there isn’t always a bright side- but on the whole a very funny read which I would recommend to everyone (18+ please, this isn’t really suitable for younger readers!)

twasthenightshift

Twas the Nightshift Before Christmas by Adam Kay

I finished This is Going to Hurt quite late in the day and didn’t have much time to choose my next read before work the next day, and considering this book is quite small I thought it would give me enough time to think about what I wanted to read afterwards… I read this in 2 days and still couldn’t decide, I clearly wasn’t prepared to move on from the genius that is Adam Kay!

What am I currently reading?

piranesi

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke

I was lucky enough to get a proof copy of Piranesi through work and a lot of my colleagues have already finished reading it and really liked it. I’m finding it strangely addictive, it’s not the sort of thing I usually read but the House where the story is set is so vivid in my mind, I want to spend some more time there!

Average Rating: 4.6 stars

Number of total pages read: 2441

Books read toward 2020 Book Challenge goal: 7/50 books

Books I plan to read in February

hand on the wall

The Hand on the Wall by Maureen Johnson

*UPDATE* I have ordered this book and it will be on it’s way very soon, I cannot wait to finish the trilogy and find out how it ends, I’ve read some reviews where people have said it’s a disappointing ending but I’m going into it with an open mind and hopefully I’ll enjoy it just as much as the first two!
